Don't Stop the Music

Public relations entrepreneur and rocker Adam Ritchie is loyal to his brands — and band. "My favorite places to play are T.T. the Bear’s Place because the stage puts you close to the audience. Another favorite is Church because it has the best beer selection in town and the Middle East Upstairs because the sound is consistently good."

Managing Your B(r)and

How does public relations entrepreneur and rocker Adam Ritchie rate the music media? "When the band is on the road, we listen to Sound Opinions in the van. It’s a good dose of music industry news, interviews, and album reviews."

Edible Notes

Public relations entrepreneur and rocker Adam Ritchie also considers himself a tasteful foodie, morning to night. "In Allston, where the band rehearses, Twin Donuts has breakfast sandwiches that taste especially good after you've chased the sunrise on an all-night drive home from the last show." For lunch, he recommends “Sam La Grassa’s for their mouthwatering thin-sliced pastrami sandwich... Charlie's Sandwich Shoppe is an old-time diner with legendary turkey hash. Next door, Anchovies makes a great chicken parmesan." And as for nighttime destinations, he says, "Deep Ellum, with its rotating list of hard-to-find beers and knowledgeable bartenders, is my favorite place for drinks. And there's nothing like unwinding after work with $1 oysters on the outside patio at the Marliave."

Lights On!

With a laptop, a cell phone and a desk in his Boston pad, Adam Ritchie chipped away at his future. He had a couple of things in mind: first, to put his years of public relations experience working with brands like Perrier, Timberland and Hasbro to use, and second, to make music. Totally unrelated goals. Bummer.

The guy hustled on the phone and started his own company. Adam Ritchie Brand Direction quickly moved out of his apartment and into downtown digs, staff included. The firm has worked with clients like The Magic Hat Brewing Company, Sonicbids, Changents and Yumnuts. Solid.

Then, he tackled his second goal -- the music thing. The native of Freehold, New Jersey, joined The Lights Out, which has since opened for the Patriots at Gillette Stadium, signed a licensing deal with MTV Networks and just came out with its second album. He describes it as the kind of music you'd play while robbing a bank. Well, those are rad words, Adam. How about we place it sweetly in the suspenseful rock category? No heist necessary.

Now with his first two goals successfully checked off, the big question is, what will his third goal will be? Just do us a favor, guy: keep away from the robbery analogies, okay?
