Dichotomy Skateboards
So maybe mom isn't a skateboarder. But hey, something for her, something for you, right? Dichotomy Skateboards is the brainchild of Boldfacer Mykim Dang who creates and designs skateboards that can be hung on the wall as art or destroyed on the streets, the latter being their preferred function. Mykim spends her time barreling along the T, cruising Chinatown, and hanging in the Boston Beanstock coffee shop, combing through crowds looking for some seductive eyes, an angular nose, a wrinkle with battle history to splash across a skateboard – Mykim’s canvas. Bring along your mom -- who knows? -- her face might inspire Mykim as fodder for her next skateboard...

My Oilcloth
In 2006, Brookline PTO buddies Michele Sommer and Yvette Yelardy dreamed up a new idea for the retro fabric, oilcloth. With visions of totes, beach carriers, purses and such dancing in their heads, they created "MY Oilcloth" (M for Michele, Y for Yvette -- and both Boldfacers), which has since grown into 14 great designs that come in seven different colors and dozens of patterns. The main ingredient? Oilcloth, cotton fabric coated by linseed oil to produce a plastic-type waterproof finish. Fashionable, fun and functional.
