What is a pop-up store?

Good question! A Boldfacers pop-up store is a one-time-only, gone-in-a-flash retail experience set up for 1-2 days. Each month, we feature a different theme and showcase local, excellent, unique vendors and designers -- you know, the Boldfacers of that particular industry. We're always looking for fun themes and talent, so if you have any ideas, please write us at info@Boldfacers.com.

Pop-up store

It's Valentine's Day this Sunday. What's your fantasy? Come on, you can tell us. Chances are, we've got it for you at our Sex! Love! Toys! Pop up store this Friday night. We figure the best way to your heart is through your senses, so we are unveiling a see-it, smell-it, taste-it, touch-it, hear-it orgy. Sizzling last-minute V-day gifts from the city's finest lingerie, floral, perfume boutiques will fill our loft studio as well as rockin' DJ music, and experts not just telling but showing...ahem...tips. After all, a little erotica never hurt anyone. Happy Valentine's Day.

(In alphabetical order)

French Dressing

Thank God for French Dressing. Beacon Hill needed to spice things up, don’t you think? The Hill’s first real lingerie boutique, French Dressing tempts both proper and improper Bostonians with irresistible treats from world famous brands such as Cosabella, Eberjay and Aubade. Owner Melissa Bennett offers a full range of sexy treats from silk camisoles, lacy intimates and corsets. Because we all know it’s what’s on the inside that counts.

I C U In Paris

I C U – no, it’s a text message. It stands for Independent, curated and unique which stands for everything in Christan Summer’s collection. Fresh off the plane from Paris, former Boston resident and jewelry designer Christan Summers is hand-picking rugged men’s rings, delicate women’s chain lariats and biker chic chain cuffs extra specially for her new Valentines -- you.

Neil Morris Fragrances

Who knew he was in our own back yard? Neil Morris is one of only 3 perfume makers in the country! We’re talking custom-created love potions here – scents that bring men, women and small dogs to their knees. With 50 ready to wear fragrances, Neil also can mix together the perfume of your dreams. For our pop-up, we asked him to focus heavily on passion-inducing concoctions to make this Valentine’s Day a 24-hour lovefest to remember.

Sex Toy Dave

SexToy.com

It’s sort of a long story. Dave Levine never ever ever meant to start a sex toy company. He also never intended to star in the Bravo hit reality show called Millionaire Matchmaker. But he did both -- and well. Like, very, very well. The owner of Sextoy.com, Lynnfield native Dave earned his degree at University of Michigan, moved to Japan to learn Japanese and then back to the States to capitalize on something new called the internet. To cut to the chase, he ended up selling adult products and made a killing, moved to Hollywood, turned heads for his Lindsay Lohan and Chris Rock filled parties, and landed a gig on TV. He’s handpicked some particularly slick and sophisticated trinkets for Boldfacers customers and wishes you a very Happy Valentine’s Day.

Table and Tulip

If Andrea Halliday was not born out of her mother, she would have emerged from a tulip. The girl was put here to cut stems, fold petals and generally beautify planet earth. Count on floral arrangements that rival Monet as well as clever creations that will punch up your bath and your body. What do you mean, you say? We’re not telling, just showing…on Friday night.

Stuff to see…

Bound in Boston

Pop quiz: define rigger. Explain Switch. Describe a sub. If you know the answers that you understand the world of rope bondage, based in the Japanese traditions of Shibari and Kinbaku. Bound in Boston is an educational organization devoted to teaching you how to knot safely and pleasurably. The Bound folks are sending two instructors to demonstrate techniques and teach you about riggers (the person doing the tying), a switch (someone who is happy to tie or be tied) and subs (short for submissive).

Gypsy Rose

Wendy Reardon is a complicated woman. She is a world-class expert on the Pope (she earned her masters in medieval history and wrote a text book on papal history). And, she is a world-class pole dancer. (Freud, are you listening?) She launched Gypsy Rose Exotic and Pole Dancing to help women feel comfortable in their bodies. Turns out, there are other side benefits: it’s a great workout, can boost self-esteem and not bad for bedside manners either. Her brigade of instructors will be on site and spinning for your pleasure.

Kimberly Kennedy

Psychic

The thing is about sex is that it takes energy. And if your energy is blocked you are in bigass trouble. Kimberly Kennedy can help free things up. Sure, she's a licensed massage therapist and Usui-Reiki healer but more than anything, she is a psychic. In private mini-sessions at our pop-up store, Kimberly will help you unblock energy so you can not just enjoy sex but -- hey, who knows --  maybe find love, too.

Ms. Savannah and the Kink Academy

We profiled Ms. Savannah, a professional dominatrix, on Valentine’s Day two years ago. Life has not been the same. She was eloquent. She was smart. She was cool. Not sure what we expected but not all of that for sure. She will be offering her words of wisdom as well as bringing along literature from her sister venture, The Kink Academy, an online sexual educational publication. We asked her to serve as our mistress of ceremonies for the evening, and she graciously agreed.
