Raw temperatures and a cold rain did not dampen the spirits of the glammed-out Bostonians attending the Sapphire Necklace Gala, the signature fundraiser for the Institute of Contemporary Art. Held at the museum, 600 guests swathed in feather boas, metallic leather jackets and untucked tuxedo shirts enjoyed martinis, world-class modern art, a four-star dinner and dancing to DJ Felix Cutillo’s international mix. Co-chaired by Karen and Brian Conway and Tricia and Nick Winton, the night raised money for the ICA’s exhibitions, performance series and educational programs. Tate Donovon’s sculpture Nebulous fetched a staggering $100,000 at the auction. Who knows? Maybe next year, Boldfacers’ sculptor Pablo Eduardo (profile 3/18/08) will be a part of the action.
