Do Looks Count?
January 19,2010

Beauty: it's timeless, coveted, and allegedly rare. It was also the topic of our latest Boldbuzz -- Do Looks Count: The Science of Beauty. Harvard Psychologist Nancy Etcoff lead a fascinating dialogue on the historical, social, and cultural meaning of good looks with help from panelists Jay Calderin, Executive Director of Boston Fashion Week, Dr. Sumner Slavin, cosmetic surgeon, Jo Somers, Director of Copley Seven Models, and Heather Thompson-Brenner, an eating disorder specialist. While our society is clamoring for the attention that thinness and perfect face structures can bring, we learned that true beauty lies far beneath designer digs and flawless skin. Confidence, compassion and love define inner beauty -- and what people are really looking for.
